This policy explains what StockRiot collects, why, and what you can do about it. StockRiot is operated by Stock Ships LLC ("we", "us"). By using stockriot.com or subscribing to our email, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Email address and, optionally, first name when you subscribe to our newsletter.
  • Message contents if you email us directly.

Information collected automatically

  • IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages viewed.
  • The date and time of your subscription, and the page you subscribed from, which we retain as a record of your consent.
  • Email engagement data such as opens and link clicks.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and this site is not directed to children.

How we use it

  • To send you the newsletter you subscribed to.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the site, including preventing automated signup abuse.
  • To measure which content and acquisition sources perform.
  • To comply with legal obligations, including recordkeeping for commercial email.

We do not sell your personal information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your email address or other personal information to third parties for their own marketing. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf and are contractually limited to that purpose — for example our email delivery provider, our web host, and our analytics provider — and where required by law or valid legal process.

Note that our newsletter may contain paid third-party advertising. Where it does, the advertiser receives no personal information about you from us unless you choose to click through and provide it to them directly, at which point that advertiser's own privacy policy governs.

Email: how to stop receiving it

Every email we send contains a working one-click unsubscribe link in the footer. Unsubscribing takes effect immediately and we do not require you to log in or give a reason. You can also email editor@stockriot.com and we will remove you.

Our commercial emails comply with the CAN-SPAM Act: they identify the sender, include our physical mailing address, and honor opt-out requests promptly.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for basic site function and for aggregate analytics. Analytics may be provided by third parties such as Google Analytics, which set their own cookies and process data under their own privacy policies. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings; the site will still function if you do.

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where transmitted by your browser.

Data retention

We keep subscriber records for as long as you remain subscribed and for a reasonable period afterwards to honor your unsubscribe request and to evidence prior consent. Analytics data is retained on our providers' standard schedules.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and subscriber data is stored on access-controlled systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing (we do not sell or share it). California residents have these rights under the CCPA/CPRA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

To make a request, email editor@stockriot.com from the address on file, or tell us which address to look up. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

International readers

StockRiot is operated from the United States and any information you provide is processed there. If you are outside the United States, you consent to that transfer.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date at the top of this page.

Public social-media posts we analyse

Separately from anything about you as a reader, StockRiot analyses publicly visible posts on third-party platforms in order to produce the Riot Score. To be clear about what that does and does not involve:

  • We collect only publicly visible content. We do not access private servers, direct messages, closed groups, or paywalled rooms.
  • Our published output is aggregate — counts, scores, and distributions by ticker. We do not publish individual usernames, profiles, or post histories as part of the daily board.
  • We do not attempt to identify the real-world identity of any poster, and we do not build or sell profiles of individual social-media users.
  • If you believe your public posts have been included in a way that concerns you, write to editor@stockriot.com and we will address it.
